News: Russia joined Sport for All international movement In Buenos Aires (Argentina) on September, 30 2007 the Multisport Association of Russia has become a member of the “Trim and Fitness International Sport for All Association” (TAFISA) on the XX-th Congress.
The delegates from 200 countries voted for the admission of the Russian organization in the TAFISA members at the XXth Congress in Buenos Aires (Argentina). The Congress was held in the Major Hall in the NH City and Tower Hotel. The Multisport Association of Russia was represented by the secretary general Alexey Kylasov and the vice-president Sergey Eliseev.
The vice–president of Argentina Daniel Scioli greeted the delegates. The organizer of the Congress was the Asociacion Mutual del Deporte de la Republica Argentina – AMUDERA.
“Trim and Fitness International Sport for All Association” (TAFISA) is an organization recognized by the IOC. By the TAFISA initiative the workshop group was established in the IOC Sport for All Commission. The TAFISA is a member of the UNESCO Consultative Council and a counselor of the UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee for Physical Culture and Sport (CIGEPS).
The TAFISA is also forming a workshop group of the World Health Organization in the joint project “Global Strategy of Nutrition, Physical Activity and Health”.
The history of the TAFISA started in 1991 when more than 40 countries established the organization in Bordeaux (France). The TAFISA was founded as a consequence of the positive development of the IOC movement “Sport for All” when there appeared a necessity in an organizational structure which would set and reach new goals and cope with the new requirements of the time.
Today more than 200 organizations from countries of all the continents together with the international organizations (this amendment has been made in the regulations at the Congress in Buenos Aires) are the TAFISA members. The International Federation of Amateur Sambo (FIAS) was the first international organization to be admitted to the TAFISA.
The FIAS recognition as a member of the TAFISA can be considered as one more Russian voice because sambo-wrestling is a priority national sport. Besides, the FIAS vice-president Sergey Eliseev is a vice-president of the Multisport Association of Russia which has also become a member of the TAFISA.
The membership of the Multisport Association of Russia in the TAFISA is conditioned by the fact that the Multisport Association of Russia unites a lot of sport federations which are most attractive to the mass sport. Besides, both organizations have common objectives of support and promotion of national sports because the TAFISA is the UNESCO counselor and executor of preserving traditional and native games and competitions as a part of cultural heritage of the mankind.
It is interesting to mention that according to Dr. Rhee Shang-Hi (Korea) the Multisport Association of Russia is a typical member of the TAFISA the basis of which is formed by confederations making the foundation for the movement “Sport for All” all over the world. The part of national sport confederations together with specialized organizations is 74%. The percentage of state establishments in the TAFISA is 18%. And the percentage of the vertical organizations of the IOC program “Sport for All” – the National Olympic Committees – is only 8%.
At this the budgets of “Sport for All” movement are financed by states (56%), sponsors (22%) and other sources (11%). At the example of Russia it can be easily seen. The Rossport holds mass sport events without mentioning “Sport for All movement” and without support from the IOC or ROC: Running day “Nations Cross”, mass-start “Ski track of Russia”, School Spartakiade, street tournaments “Golden Puck” and “Leather Ball”.
The IOC Sport for All Commission member and the TAFISA direction member, Chang Ju-Ho (Korea) suggested rising the activity of the national Olympic Committees. He appealed to the TAFISA members to involve the Olympic Committees to the cooperation. According to Chu-Ho’s words the vector of the world’s sport development are important for the Olympic movement which means that the data collected and analyzed by the TAFISA are also important.
Due to the appearance an organization, the TAFISA’s member, in Russia there probably will be much more sport competitions and seminars initiated by the “Sport for All” movement. |
